Barber Shop Memory Care Murals Janice Wagner

Mr. Snips Barber Shop - Storefront Mural Project

Nine murals depicting 1950's storefronts were originally created for the Alzheimer's wing of Overlake Terrace Assisted Living in Redmond, WA. Janice went on to complete a total of forty-eight murals for other BPM Senior Living facilities in Oregon, California, Idaho, and Utah.

The murals are reminiscent of 1950's Main Street America, and include real-life elements such as furniture, awnings, door handles, fruit crates and flower baskets. The objects add a tactile dimension to the scenes – which feature familiar, everyday settings from the residents' pasts. Everything works together to stimulate memories and encourage conversation. The murals also serve as landmarks and points of reference, helping the residents find their apartments.
Murals are approximately 8' x 8'.
